We are proud to share that our Director of Business Development, and long-time advocate for safer waterways, Caroline Mantel, has been selected to serve on the Sea Tow Foundation’s Boating Safety Advisory Council. This council brings together leaders from across the marine industry who share a single goal, helping more people enjoy boating safely and responsibly.

“It’s an honor to be part of this group of industry leaders dedicated to promoting safer and more responsible boating. I’m looking forward to collaborating with others who are just as passionate about education, access, and creating a stronger boating community for everyone.”
— Caroline Mantel

Why this matters

Safer boating is good for everyone, from families on the water to dealers, insurers, lenders, marinas, surveyors, and law enforcement partners. The Sea Tow Foundation helps advance that mission through education, access to safety resources, and national awareness efforts that encourage smart decisions on the water. Bringing diverse voices to the same table creates practical solutions that boaters will actually use.

What Caroline brings to the council

Caroline sits at the intersection of data, risk, and education. At Boat History Report she works every day with lenders, dealers, insurers, surveyors, and manufacturers who rely on accurate vessel information to protect customers and reduce risk. She also speaks frequently on fraud detection and verification in marine transactions, which gives her a clear view of how policy and practice meet real-world behavior.

That experience translates directly to boating safety. When buyers and owners have reliable information about a vessel’s history, they can make better choices about maintenance, equipment, crew readiness, and trip planning. Clear, trusted data helps prevent surprises on the water.

How Boat History Report will support the council’s work

Boat History Report is honored to contribute our perspective to the council. Our role is focused on transparency and education, and we plan to support initiatives that help boaters and industry partners make informed decisions.

Here are a few areas where we expect to add value:

  • Data-driven insights: Aggregate, de-identified trends from vessel histories can illuminate where education or resources make the biggest impact, for example recurring issues that surface after storm seasons or common gaps in documentation.
  • Educational content for buyers and owners: Practical checklists and how-to guides that explain topics like HIN validation, documentation and titling basics, and how to interpret a vessel history report in the context of safety.
  • Resources for industry partners: Short training modules for frontline staff at dealerships, brokerages, and marinas that connect everyday processes to safer outcomes on the water.
  • Collaboration across the ecosystem: Convening conversations between lenders, insurers, law enforcement, and advocacy groups so that policy, underwriting, and safety messaging reinforce one another.

What this means for our community

If you are a Boat History Report customer or partner, you can expect to see more practical education from us, including templates, short videos, and decision guides that help connect vessel history to everyday safety choices. We will also share updates from the council so you can plug into programs and volunteer opportunities in your area.

Thank you to the Sea Tow Foundation

We are grateful to the Sea Tow Foundation for the work it leads on behalf of the boating public, and for welcoming Caroline to the council. The mission is simple to say and important to achieve, more people on the water, enjoying the experience, returning home safely every time.
